Yes, Buckle In Driving Academy is licensed by the State of Michigan. All instructors are also licensed by the State of Michigan and complete over 180 hours of training.

Segment 1 students need to make sure they have the following:

1. Photo copy of Birth Certificate

2. Segment 1 Contract

Segment 2 students need to make sure they have the following:

1. Level 1 License (must have been issued for 90 days)

2. Driving Log (minimum of 30 hours and 2 must be at night)

3. Segment 2 Contract

We will hold an informational parent meeting on the first day of class. This will be held before class and is expected to last 45 minutes. If the class is scheduled for 6:45, then the parent meeting will start at 6:00. This meeting is required. If you can't make the meeting please reach out to the office.

After registering for a Segment 1 class you will call our office at (616) 855-6555 or email us at info@buckleindrivingacademy.com to schedule drive times. You will need to schedule (6) 1-hour slots to drive and (4) 1-hour slots to observe. These times are outside of the classroom schedule.

Buckle In does allow a student to make up a maximum of two missed classes. These classes will need to be made up in another Segment 1 class. If your child misses more than two days of class, they MUST complete the classroom portion of Segment 1 over again.

There will be no charge for the make up class or days. Your student MUST make these days up before getting their certificate.

Based on the weather conditions when classes or drives are scheduled will determine if they are cancelled. The instructor will notify you within 2 hours of classes or drives if they are canceled.

We require a $100 deposit to hold your spot in class. If you need to cancel, this deposit can be moved to another class. The balance will be due on the first day of class. If you need to make payment arrangements please call our office and we will do our best to help you.

We use a range of vehicles so kids can have different experiences with different vehicles. These range from midsize cars to crew cab pick ups. All vehicles are late model 5 star safety rated with a dual brake pedal giving instructors complete control.

State documents verifying your age will work also such as State ID card, or a Passport

You will need (6) 1-hour drives on separate days. You will also need (4) 1-hour observations in the car. There will usually be two students in the car at a time. So when scheduling your drives it is good to set a two hour block up so they can drive and then do their observation. NO cell phones are allowed while in the car at any time.

Yes, you must first obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit from the SOS office. You will also need to fill out the adult contract.
